The German Bundesliga much like other European leagues returned to action with Week 5 of exciting action. Hamburg continued its unbeaten start with another offensive explosion with a 3-1 home win over Stuttgart. Mladen Petric, Eljero Elia, Zé Roberto each scored their 2nd goals of the season. Hamburg's 4th straight win keeps them in 1st place as the team has scored at least 3 goals in each victory of the streak.
Bayer Leverkusen kept pace with Hamburg with a big 3-2 road win against defending champion Wolfsburg. Leverkusen captain Simon Rolfes scored twice helping his team to a 3-0 lead before holding off a late Wolfsburg charge with goals from Zvjezdan Misimovic & Grafite. Leverkusen are also unbeaten having won 4 straight to sit in 2nd in the table trailing Hamburg on goal differential while Wolfsburg have lost 3 straight giving up 10 goals in that stretch.
The addition of Arjen Robben has turned Bayern's season around. Bayern defeated Borussia Dortmund 5-1 on the road for its 2nd straight win since Robben's acquistion from Real Madrid. A brace by Thomas Müller helped to pile the misery on Dortmund. Before Robben joined the team, Bayern was winless and had only scored 3 goals in its 1st 3 matches. After Robben was signed, the team has won both games and scored 8 goals in those matches.
